About Our Therapies

At Forster Podiatry, we provide treatments with the goal of reducing the pains associated with sporting foot injuries. Our therapies include:

  • Soft tissue massages: Joint Mobilisation and Manipulation: We offer remedial massage techniques, myofascial release and joint manipulation to help with managing pain related to sprained ankles, shin splints, inflamed foot tissues and more. This type of therapy is gentle and non-invasive. Soft tissue treatments are a great way to alleviate pain and stiffness associated with Osteo arthritis and general foot and lower limb stiffness.
  • Dry needling/trigger point therapy: At our clinic, we provide dry needling therapies to help release muscle tension, restore movement in joints affected by myofascial trigger points and relieve muscle pain. Dry needling is safe for most people and adverse side-effects are rare. It also won’t interfere with your exercise regime!
  • Orthoses: AFOs and braces for support and stability. Individually scripted for custom made Orthoses which we source from a variety of Australian Ortho Labs depending on your condition. Modifications can be done on site as well as recovers for your old Orthoses. We also have a large range of supportive innersoles for your everyday footwear or sports shoes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of sports injuries can podiatrists treat?

Podiatrists are able to treat a number of different sports injuries, including ankle sprains, Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and stress fractures. In addition, podiatrists can provide guidance on proper footwear and stretching exercises to help prevent future injuries.

  • Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?

No, dry needling and acupuncture are not the same. Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that has been used for centuries to treat a variety of conditions. Dry needling is a relatively new treatment modality that is based on Western medical principles. While both treatments involve the use of needles, they are used for different purposes and have different effects on the body.

  • How does dry needling help to relieve muscle pain?

Dry needling is a treatment that involves inserting a thin needle into the skin and muscles to relieve pain. The needles are usually inserted into trigger points, which are areas of muscle tension that can cause pain in other parts of the body. Dry needling is thought to help relieve muscle pain by reducing muscle tension and triggering the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals in the body.

  • What are the benefits of soft tissue massages?

Some benefits of soft tissue massages include reducing muscle tension, improving range of motion and promoting relaxation. Massage therapy can also help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep quality, and boost immunity. Soft tissue massages are often recommended for people who are recovering from injuries or surgery, as well as those who suffer from chronic pain.
